“My wife was just diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She’s physically healthy, and I want to keep her at home as long as possible. But I need help to do so, and we don’t have enough money to pay for her care for the rest of her life. Will I have to sell our home to pay for her care?”
“My mother just entered the nursing home. At $7,000 or more per month, her funds won’t last long and my sister still lives in the family home. Is there any way to keep the home for my sister?”
“My husband was in the military for a couple of years. He now needs care and is in a local memory assist facility; can the Veterans Administration help with his cost of care?”
The cost of Long Term Care, whether provided at home, in assisted living, or in a nursing home, is high and getting higher. Fortunately, the government has two benefit programs which can help pay the cost. Unfortunately, they have very complicated, and unforgiving, qualification requirements.
Our ability to guide clients through the maze of eligibility and qualification for government benefits for Long Term Care (Medicaid and / or Aid and Attendance) is one of the reasons clients keep coming back to our office and referring their family and friends. We have also represented other law firms and business in these matters. We have also advised other attorneys, CPAs, and financial advisors in these areas. At The Heritage Law Group we have over thirty years of experience in designing plans to acquire assistance with long term care costs.
So let’s talk about the government programs that can help with the cost of long term care:
• For those in need of nursing home level care (in the home or in a nursing home), often the most financially advantageous program is Medicaid.
• For those in need of a lower level of care, we will often review eligibility for the program known as Aid and Attendance.
Our Attorneys work together to design and implement Long Term Care plans. It is rare that we find an issue that we have not seen before. We also have paralegals who have years of experience in helping clients implement the plan our attorneys design.
